In today’s economy, maintaining the constant upkeep of your business technology can be time-consuming and costly. At KML Computer Services, our expert technology professionals can provide your business the bench strength, skills, and support of a fully staffed IT department. KML has developed a 6 step cleanup / maintenance program that should be performed on your server at least once a year.

A detailed list of these tasks is included below:

  1. Event Log Analysis – Just about everything about a server is in the Event Logs including any looming issues relating to the server. Our technicians will look through the logs
in detail and make corrective actions as necessary.
  2. Backup Log Analysis – Backups are a critical part of your server, but most people do not know whether the nightly backups are executing successfully and occurring on a regular basis. KML will review the backup logs and make sure that backups are working and all critical data is being backed up on a nightly basis.
  3. Hard Drive Cleanup As the server ages, log files accumulate and systems files are duplicated as windows updates are installed. This wastes valuable disk space and begins to impact server performance as the disk fills up. We will sift thru each directory on the server and remove any unnecessary files and folders. This frees up valuable disk space on your server as well as your backup drives.
  4. Defragment Hard Drives – Hard drive contention is leading cause for server slowdown over time. As files are created, changed and deleted, files are saved to the server in a very inefficient way. It becomes necessary to “reorganize” these files in a more efficient way that increases the speed at which they are accessed and opened. It is not just as simple as running Disk Defragmenter. The KML technician will make sure that this is done correctly and that the amount of fragmented files is minimized.
  5. Settings Optimization – Our experts perform several system optimizing registry and systems setting changes. These changes are designed to increase server performance and response time.
  6. Memory Optimization Memory (RAM) is an often overlooked aspect of server performance and reliability. Servers thrive on RAM. We take a look at all the programs and server services that are running in memory and make changes and adjustments as necessary to make the most efficient use of server memory.

Typically we will need about 1 to 2 hours to complete the cleanup/maintenance tasks. We fix the cost at $250 and work until all the tasks are complete.
